Succulent Sale

The Cactus and Succulent Society of San Jose had its annual sale last Saturday (April 2). Last time I attended this show was in 2006, and I remember the big crowd in a buying frenzy and all the fascinating show plants. Now I am happy to report that the show has kept its tradition very well.

Here are some other show plants that caught my attention:

Mammillaria matudae Cristata Senecio articulatus
Show Plant C Show Plant D
Ariocarpus retusus var. furfuraceus Zygosicyos tripartitus
Mammillaria saboae Show Plant H
Show Plant I Deuterocohnia brevifolia

My favorite plant from this year’s show is Tephrocactus alexanderi var. geometricus and a small one-sphere seedling is bought for experiment. Its tag says it started in 2005, not quite fit for a fast grower as described by some internet sources. Hopefully it will not take a lifetime to get to the size of this show plant.
